Swiftettes defeat Lady Falcons, 42-39

The Nazareth Swiftettes came out on top of the Bushland Lady Falcons in a tough game on Tuesday, 42-39.

The Lady Falcons stepped up and took charge of scoring early, but the Swiftettes defense battled and the offense put shots up to hold the Bushland lead to 14-10.

The Swiftettes offense pushed in the second quarter to out score the Lady Falcons by three point, narrowing the Bushland lead to single point at the end of the first half, 2221.

The third quarter saw the Bushland squad widen their lead to 35- 27, but the Swiftettes came on strong in the fourth quarter. The final period became a nailbiter for fans of both teams, with Nazareth battling back to tie the game and take the lead 39-37. The Swiftettes came through with added shots to claim a win 42-37.

Nazareth stats showed the Swiftettes hitting 12-of-36 field goals with 3-of-16 three-point shots, 15-of 22 free throws, collecting 21 rebounds, 10 assists, 11 steals, and one block, with nine turnovers and 13 fouls.

The Swiftettes spread the shooting across all members of the team to take the win: Brooklyn Birkenfeld , eight points, two offensive rebounds, three defensive rebounds, two steals and three fouls; Tatum Peterson, eight points, two defensive rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and three fouls; Presley Wheeler, eight points, one defensive rebound, five assists and one foul; Iris Schilderink, seven points, six defensive rebounds, one assist, six steals and one fouls; Chloe Birkenfeld, four points, two assists and one fouls; Brooklyn Dyer, three points, one offensive and defensive rebound and two fouls; Caroline Myrick, two points, three offensive rebounds, one defensive rebound, one assist, one steal and one foul; and Riley Ramaekers, two points.

The Swiftettes will be competing in the 2022 Nazareth Invitational this weekend.
