Swiftettes defeat Lady Longhorns

The Nazareth Swiftettes took a win over the Vega Lady Longhorns, 66-25.

The Swiftettes gained a comfortable edge in the first quarter, 23-10, and the Naz offensive pounded away in the second quarter, for a 29-point lead by the end of the first half, 45-16.

The third and fourth quarters saw more gains on the scoreboard, giving them an easy win over the Vega team, 66-25.

The Swiftettes shot for 24of-44 field goals with 11-of-18 three pointers, hit 7-of 13 free throws, collected 16 rebounds and 23 steals, had 16 turnovers and 10 fouls.

Top shots were Presley Wheeler with 23 points, one offensive rebound, six defensive rebounds, four assists, seven steals and one foul; Brooklyn Dyer, 13 points, one offensive rebound, two assists, two steals and two fouls; and Brooklyn Birkenfeld, 10 points, one offensive and defensive rebound, two assists, five steals and one foul.

Contributing shooters were Chloe Birkenfeld, seven points, three assists and one foul; Tatum Peterson, two points, two defensive rebounds, four assists, two steals and one foul; Iris Schilderink, two points, one offensive and defensive rebound, four steals and two fouls; and Caroline Myrick, one point, one offensive and defensive rebound, three assists, three steals and two fouls.
