Swiftettes defeat Lady Lynx, 37-35

The Nazareth Swiftettes battled their way to a victory against the Spearman Lady Lynx, 37-35.

Nazareth took a three-point lead in the first quarter, 7-4, and continue to make gains in the second quarter, closing the first half out, 20-13.

The Spearman squad challenged the Swiftettes in the third quarter, out shooting them by four points and narrowing the Naz lead to 25-22.

The Swiftettes held on in the fourth quarter and claimed a well-earned win over the Lady Lynx, 37-35.

The Swiftettes came through with four offensive rebounds, 20 defensive rebounds, nine steals, nine assists, seven blocks and 25 deflections. Shooting stats were 13 of 32 for 40 percent, three of 10 for three-point shots for 37 percent, and eight of 13 free throws for 61 percent.

Top shooters for the Swiftettes were Makenzy Corrales with 13 points, five defensive rebounds, two steals, two blocks and four fouls; Emma Kleman with 10 points, two offensive rebounds, seven defensive rebounds, four assists, five steals, two blocks and one foul; and Merry Gerber with eight points, one offensive rebound, five defensive rebounds, one steal, three blocks and two fouls.

Contributing shooters were Tatum Peterson with two points, one defensive rebound, three assists and one foul; Addie Dyer with two points, one defensive rebound, one assist and two fouls; Jaden Pigg with one point and one defensive rebound; Harley Gerber with one point, one assist, one steal and one foul; Iris Schilderink with one offensive rebound and one foul; and Presley Wheeler with two fouls.
