The Swiftettes ended their regular season of conference play with a big win over the Texline Lady Tornadoes, 88-7, and earned Nazareth another District Championship title.

This will send the Swiftettes into the playoffs with a bye on the Bi-District round. They will play the winner of White Deer and Miami/McLean. Seeding was set for this past Monday.

The final conference game against Texline handed the Swiftettes an easy win.

Nazareth shot out to take a big lead over Texline in the first quarter, 30-1, and continued to pound the Lady Tornadoes offensively in the second quarter, ending the first half ahead, 54-3.

The third quarter, the Swiftettes offense widened the gap by another 16 points while their defense allowed only four points by Texline, 72-7. The fourth quarter ended in a big victory for Nazareth, 88-7.

The Swiftettes hit 49% (37/76) from the field; free throws, 70% (7/10); and collected 19 assists, 21 steals, and 25 rebounds.

Nazareth top shots were Emma Kleman with 15 points, four assists, four steals, three offensive rebounds, one defensive rebound and one foul; Makenzy Corrales with 14 points, one assist, four steals and one offensive rebound; Addie Dyer with 13 points, four assists, three steals and two offensive rebounds; Merry Gerber with 10 points, one steal; two offensive and defensive rebounds; and Jaden Pigg with 10 points, two assists, one steal, one offensive rebound and two fouls.

Contributing players were Tatum Peterson with six points and one assist; Kyanne Dunne with five points, one assist, three steals, one offensive and defensive rebound; Maggie Nelson with four points, three assists, one steal, five offensive rebounds, one defensive rebound and one foul; Iris Schilderink with four points, three steals, four offensive rebounds and two fouls; Harley Gerber with four points, one assist and one steal; and Presley Wheeler with three points, two assists, one defensive rebound and one foul.

The Swiftettes are first in the 1A Region 1 District 3 conference with a 22-4, 12-0 record for the season going into the playoffs.

Happy follows Nazareth at second in the district (18-6, 10-2); Wildorado in third (10-12, 6-4); with Hartley, Adrian, Channing and Texline next in that order, according to Max-Preps.

Due to Covid-19, playoff games and the Regional games will be played at selected schools to be announced.

TABC state rankings as of Feb. 1, Dodd City (23-0), Nazareth (22-4), Huckabay )16-2), Veribest (19-1), and Saltillo (18-3).

According to MaxPreps, the girls playoff dates are:

Feb. 11-13 – Bi-District

Feb. 15-16 – Area

Feb. 18-20 – Quarterfinals

Feb. 22-23 – Regional Semi-Finals

Feb. 25-27 – Regional Finals

March 5-6 - Girls State Basketball Tournament, Alamodome, San Antonio.
