With inflation rising and people trying to stretch every dollar, it is safe to say that many aren’t going on extended vacations and long trips, but there are things in the Texas Panhandle to do and see to take a break from the weekly routine.
The Texas Panhandle Plains region reaches further south than Abilene and as far east as Wichita Falls, taking up a solid portion of northwest Texas. Lubbock, Abilene, San Angelo, and Amarillo all fall within the Panhandle Plains region.
Texas’ portion of Route 66 may only stretch for 179 miles, but it packs quite the punch,featuringghosttowns, quirky roadside attractions, and various events. While the full route can be driven in a single day, it is easy to make a weekend of it.
