Lynn takes reins of WTAMU football

West Texas A&M Director of Athletics Michael Mc-Broom announced that Josh Lynn has been hired as the 29th head coach in Buffalo Football history. Lynn was introduced at a press conference this past Friday at the Fairly Group Club at Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium.

The Dimmitt Bobcats scored a big win over the Tulia Hornets, 68-44. Dimmitt took charge in the first quarter, gaining a signifi cant lead over the Hornets, 23-8, and continued to widen the gap in the second quarter, ending the first half with a 4015 lead.

Swiftettes fall to Lynx in OT

The Nazareth Swiftettes battled the Spearman Lady Lynx in a nailbiter game, losing the bout in an overtime 44-41. The Swiftettes shot for 13 of 34 field goals, with four of 15 three pointers; hit 11 of 27 free throws, collected 28 rebounds, eight assists, eight steals, two blocks, had 15 turnovers and 19 fouls.

The Nazareth Swiftettes took a win over the Vega Lady Longhorns, 66-25. The Swiftettes gained a comfortable edge in the first quarter, 23-10, and the Naz offensive pounded away in the second quarter, for a 29-point lead by the end of the first half, 45-16.

MSU coach dies after hospitalization

Mississippi State University Head Football Coach Mike Leach had a massive heart attack this past Sunday, leading to hospitalization in the Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, and died on Monday evening.

Bobcats top Falcons, 53-40

The Dimmitt Bobcats scored a win against the Bushland Falcons, 53-40, this past Tuesday. Bushland edged out in the lead about the middle of the first quarter until the Bobcats got warmed up and the offensive started sinking baskets and gaining the lead by two points at the end of the period, 13-10.

The Dimmitt Bobcats were defeated by the Farwell Steers, 56-44. The first quarter, both teams came in with 10 points each, tying the score going into the second quarter.

UT basketball coach suspended following arrest

University of Texas basketball coach Chris Beard was suspended without pay following his arrest early Monday. Austin police spokesman Brandon Jones said Beard is accused of choking a person at a home in the Tarrytown neighborhood in West Austin.
