Special City Council Meeting Called to Accept 2024-2025 Audit

The City of Tulia called a Special Meeting on Friday, July 31, 2026 in the Council Chambers of Tulia City Hall to consider action on the 20242025 City Audit.The City is in a better audit condition than it has been in previous years. The City could easily pay off all debt if necessary.

Last week was really a calm week for me because I didn’t have too many things on my agenda. I just enjoyed being at my house and thought about all of the advantages I have of living out in the country. So many people over the past few years have asked me why I don’t just move to Dallas.

THS Getting Ready for a New School Year

Tulia High School is getting ready to start a new school year.The parking lot was resurfaced before students arrive for the first day of classes on August 12th.The High School also had an aging HVAC unit replaced. The old unit was removed and the new one replaced with the help of a crane from TMI.

Whew! This heat has made me not want to stay outside much this week. I am still praying that maybe we will get some rain to cool us off for a while. I took Lillian to volleyball camp at WT for three days last week.

VFW Raffle

Tulia VFW Auxiliary held a fundraiser raffle with three chances to win. Chances were sold during the 4th of July celebration and through Picnic. The drawing was held at Conner Park on Picnic day. The first drawing was for a Patriotic gift basket. The next two drawings were for 3’x5’ American flags.

HIDDEN TREASURES AT THE MUSEUM

Well, we are a week past picnic and I find myself reflecting on how different things are. I moved to Tulia in 1996 after a 6 year adventure in the Navy. This year marked my 30th Picnic Celebration.

UTV Barrel Race

Cobb Wheeler Mote Arena was the site of the Second Annual UTV Barrel Races on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Contestants raced UTVs in a cloverleaf pattern around barrels in the arena. Barrel racing is most commonly associated with horses, but this barrel race was associated with horsepower of the UTVs.
