Whew! This heat has made me not want to stay outside much this week. I am still praying that maybe we will get some rain to cool us off for a while. I took Lillian to volleyball camp at WT for three days last week.

VFW Raffle

Tulia VFW Auxiliary held a fundraiser raffle with three chances to win. Chances were sold during the 4th of July celebration and through Picnic. The drawing was held at Conner Park on Picnic day. The first drawing was for a Patriotic gift basket. The next two drawings were for 3’x5’ American flags.

HIDDEN TREASURES AT THE MUSEUM

Well, we are a week past picnic and I find myself reflecting on how different things are. I moved to Tulia in 1996 after a 6 year adventure in the Navy. This year marked my 30th Picnic Celebration.

Tulia High School FFA Banquet

On May 8, FFA held its banquet in the Ezra Jones Cafeteria at 6 p.m. Brenna Evans welcomed everyone to the evening. Mattalee Alvarez led the group in a prayer.

Tulia School Dress Code

Tulia ISD has approved a school dress code for students. The purpose of the dress code is to promote a safe, respectful learning environment, minimize distractions, teach appropriate grooming and hygiene, and encourage school pride.

UTV Barrel Race

Cobb Wheeler Mote Arena was the site of the Second Annual UTV Barrel Races on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Contestants raced UTVs in a cloverleaf pattern around barrels in the arena. Barrel racing is most commonly associated with horses, but this barrel race was associated with horsepower of the UTVs.

Dip Fest Celebrates 136th Annual Picnic

Swisher County residents and visitors for the 136th Annual Picnic Celebration enjoyed the evening Dragging Dip.Everyone brought out his or her best mode of transportation to show off on the Drag.

Kress 7th Grade Open House

It is almost time to start the 2026-2027 school year. Kress ISD will have 7th Grade Open House on August 6th at 5:30PM in the Kress High School Library to get the 7th graders started. Students and families can tour the school, decorate lockers, fill out registration packets and get schedules.
