Thanksgiving is fast approaching, as evidenced by the decor here at Rhoads Memorial Library. Several children's books about the holiday are showcased and ready for checkout; even our display celebrates the annual event.
A COMMUNITY LANDMARK--The Italian Prisoners of War camp that was built south of Hereford in Castro County, and its presence had considerable impact in Castro and Deaf Smith Counties. Italian prisoners built this small chapel, a structure that still stands, outside the main camp, and it has endured despite weather damage and vandalism. Restored art from the front of the altar in the structure is housed in the Castro County Museum in Dimmitt for safekeeping.

The Nazareth Swifts put an exclamation point on their 2025 regular season beating rival Happy, 52-6 The win clinched the district title for Nazareth who will face Claude Friday in Lockney at 7 p.m.Leading Nazareth were Cameron Pohlmeier who had 184 yards rushing with four touchdowns.

On the farm where I grew up, we had a semi-permanent mud puddle that almost qualified as a pond. During the days of high summer it would kind of dry up into a darker patch of heavily rutted dirt, but you could still reach mud with a shovel and a little effort.
