AgriLife to hold Ag Masterminds

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is beginning a monthly meetup for producers and experts. The Ag Masterminds meetings will offer the opportunity to learn from other producers and experts in an informal setting in the local tri-county area for about an hour.

More parents opt for home school

According to the most recent data released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in an open records request to the Texas Home School Coalition (THSC), Texas experienced 29,765 withdrawals from public school to homeschool between grade 7-12 in the 2021-2022 school year.

State STEM programs receive grants

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) recently gave $2.5 million in grants to various STEM programs in Texas. The new multi-milliondollar grant is giving Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students across the state a little extra help this year.

The Dimmitt Bobcats kicked off their season with a big win against the Memphis Cyclones 36-14. Dimmitt dominated the game with big rushes and solid defense. Top Bobcat passer was Jack Lunsford with five of eight completions for 67 yards and one touchdown.

West Texas A&M University announced an ambitious plan to eliminate most textbook-related costs for WT students. “Making education affordable is our responsibility,” President Walter V. Wendler said.

Swifts fall to Antelopes

The Nazareth Swifts had a tough first game out of the starting gate, losing to the Whiteface Antelopes, 58-12. Nazareth had 21 rushes for 41 yards; three receptions for 55 yards; three fumbles, four penalties for 20 yards; and 17 tackles.
