Grants open for VFDs

The Texas A&M Forest Service announced the opening of emergency grant applications after a recent wildfire disaster declaration. The grants were for volunteer fire departments.

County Fair kicks off Aug. 25-26

The Castro County Fair and Harvest Days Celebration is coming up fast and is scheduled for Aug. 25-26. The theme this year is “Paradise on the Plains.” Entries and exhibits should be brought to the Dimmitt City Hall on Friday between noon and 6 p.m.

Exhibits against Paxton released

Despite stating there is no evidence, suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton and his legal team now face 150 exhibits from three documents totaling 3,760 pages released by the Texas House impeachment managers.

Amarillo ISD ramps up school security

Amarillo ISD’s school board discussed Monday at a meeting how House Bill 3 and House Bill 114 would be implemented across the district. House Bill 3 requires that each school district has an armed security officer present at each campus.
