Amarillo policeman wounded in traffic stop

An Amarillo motorcycle officer was shot following a struggle with a man during a traffic stop. Last Friday morning, the office stopped a man in pickup truck for a traffic violation. Upon running the driver’s information, the man was found to have a warrant.

Anton man arrested for animal cruelty

An Anton man on Sunday was charged with two counts of animal cruelty after witnesses filed complaints that he was seen driving with two dogs tethered to the back of his vehicle. The Hockley Sheriff’s Office was notified of a potential animal cruelty case in the 400 block of East Ellwood in Anton.

The Sheriff’s Office and county fire departments responded to a call stating a tractor was on fire at CR 614 and FM 2567 east of Dimmitt. Nazareth VFD and Dimmitt VFD arrived on the scene to find the tractor on the road billowing in flames and smoke.
