Maui residents begin process of recovery

The recovery process has begun following the Maui, Hawaii wildfires that destroyed Lahaina and killed at least 93 people, with many struggling to find a place to stay.

Newspapers across the nation are reacting to a police raid on a small-town Kansas newspaper, which is prompting a major First Amendment fight. The Marion County Record was raided by Marion Police Department, which confiscated computers, cell phones and a vast range of other reporting materials.

Abbott issues disaster declaration due to wildfires

Governor Greg Abbott announced that he has issued a disaster declaration for 191 Texas counties in response to widespread wildfire activity throughout the state. Additional counties may be added as conditions warrant.
