Suicidal gestures up in Panhandle

Suicidal gestures are up in the Texas Panhandle for teens where medication has been involved, according to the Texas Panhandle Poison Center. The agency went from seeing around 8,000 suicidal gestures involving medication in 2020 to more than 10,000 in 2021.

Gerber baby formula recalled

The maker of Gerber’s Good Start Infant Formula, the Perrigo Company, announced a recall this week. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Perrigo is recalling some of its Gerber Good Start SoothePro powdered infant formula because it may be contaminated with bacteria.

Lubbock Fire Rescue makes it easier to apply

Lubbock Fire Rescue is seeking both fire fighters and EMTs. After easing application requirements, applicants no longer have to be certified in either to apply. LFR Captain Phillip Grandon says that while the traditional model worked for a while, things are changing.

The Nazareth and Dimmitt high school robotics teams will be traveling to the First Tech Challenge State Championship and FTC UIL state championship this weekend on March 24-26, to be held in Belton at the Bell County Expo.

Dimmitt Bobbies lifter Allyson Jones represented DHS in top form this past weekend, claiming the THSWPA state championship gold medal, the first ever for DHS powerlifting. Ni’Khiyah Porras snagged a fourth-place state medal. Jones competed in the SHW weight class, lifting a total of 1,015 pounds.
