Abbott to incorporate ALERRT training to school districts

Governor Greg Abbott sent a letter instructing Executive Director Dr. Pete Blair to begin providing Texas State University's nationallyrecognized Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) programs to all school districts across the state, prioritizing school-based law enforcement.

This past Saturday, May 28, Dimmitt Bobcat Band percussionist Paden Mick performed in the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest in Pflugerville, earning a 2nd Division Excellent rating for his solo performance. Paden has qualified for the TSSEC all four years in high school.

Olen Schulte Rodeo set for June 3-4

The annual Olen Schulte Rodeo and Wild West Show is on the calendar for June3-4 and will prove to be as much fun as last year’s event. The rodeo will be held at Marvin Schulte’s arena five mile east of Nazareth behind Elmer’s Package Store.

District 2 4-H Fishing Extravaganza set for June 30

Castro County 4-H/District 2 youth have the opportunity to attend the Fishing Extravaganza set for June 30 at Buddy Holly Park in Lubbock. The event is for 4-H members who have completed K-12 grades. Clover kids can enter for awards or fish for free. Check-in is at 3 p.m.; orientation, 3:30 p.m.
