Rattlesnake round-up set for March 11

The 64th Annual World’s Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up will take place on March 11 through 13 at the Nolan County Coliseum, located at 220 Coliseum Drive in Sweetwater. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Day passes are available for the carnival.

The question of how Texas will provide adequate water supplies to support a projected 70% population increase in the next 50 years was address at the Texas Panhandle Water Conservation Symposium in Amarillo on Feb. 16.

Joyland Amusement Park in Lubbock will be holding a job fair on Feb. 26., 1 to 3 p.m. and Feb. 28, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The hiring event is in preparation for the opening on March 5 for its 50th season. Employees receive a monthly bonus as well as flexible hours.

Governor Greg Abbott has sent a letter to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), directing the agency to conduct prompt and thorough investigations of any reported instances of Texas children being subjected to abusive gender-transitioning procedures.

Castro County 4-H Update

The Castro County 4-H Educational Presentations competitors did very well in the Share the Fun competition, with several headed for state. The District 4-H contest was held virtually this year; individuals had to record their performances and upload them.
