Grand jury returns 11 indictments

The grand jury met on Nov. 16 in the 242nd District Court with Judge Kregg Hukill presiding and returned 11 indictments. Ricardo “Rica” Guillen Velasquez, 54 of Dimmitt, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance PG 1 over four grams-under 200 grams, which is a 2nd degree felony.

Pink Ladies to host Make-A-Wish Benefit

The Pink Ladies will be hosting a Make-A-Wish-Benefit on Dec. 5 on behalf of the North Texas Make-A-Wish Foundation. The event will be held at Dimmitt Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Chili, hot dogs, Frito pies and all the fixins’ will be served for $10 per person.

Bobcats edge out Whitefaces, 49-48

The Dimmitt Bobcats won a nail-biter against the Hereford Whitefaces on Friday, 49-48.

Swifts fall to Mustangs, 72-42

The Nazareth Swifts were defeated by the Olton Mustangs on Friday, 72-42. Shifting quickly from football season and playing in the bi-district game, the Swifts athletes got a late start into basketball season.
