CCHHA set Gran Fiesta Sept. 20

The Castro County Hispanic Heritage Association will be holding the Gran Fiesta 2025 and Parade on Sept. 20 in observance of Hispanic Heritage Month.The event will be held at Dimmitt City Park from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.The theme of the event pays tribute to the Charro and Escarramusa lifestyle.
Castro County Hospital District (CCHD) donated over 500 backpacks and school supplies to the students of Dimmitt ISD during the DISD school supply drive. Elisha Rosier-CCH CEO, Kendra Cantrell-CIS Laura Case-CCH CFO were on hand to help pass out the backpacks to students.

The Nazareth FFA Show Team for 2025-26 is already gearing up for another successful year of competition. In addition to athletics, UIL academic contests, 4-H and livestock shows, judging and CDE/LDE, talent and numerous other endeavors, the Naz team finds their way to state to compete against the best in Texas – often bringing home the title. Lead by ag teacher Austin Heck, Naz FFA has become a force determined to succeed in all that they do.

Chili cookoff set for Sept. 20

The Pink Ladies Annual Hwy to Hell-O Terlingua Chili Cookoff is set to be held on Sept. 20 at the Dimmitt Country Club.The DVFD will also hold its one day golf scramble.The event will include competitions in chili, salsa and beans.The meat requirement is chili grind.
