The dedication of the Big Square Historical Marker was held this past Saturday, with guests attending from Castro County, as well as Lazbuddie, Earth, Canyon, Amarillo, Uvalde, Hereford Muleshoe. Attending from out of state were Mary Juza and Terrell Ott of Cape Coral, Florida.

Dimmitt native to run for Texas Senate

Dimmitt native and resident Aaron Arguijo will soon be announcing his bid to run as the Democratic candidate for the Texas State Senate mid-August, though he has already begun going door-to-door to meet and speak to voters across Texas. The campaign will be officially launched on Aug. 21 at 3 p.m.

PRPC annual meeting scheduled for Sept. 23

The Panhandle Regional Planning Commission (PRPC) will be holding its 2021 Annual Meeting on Sept. 23 at Hodgetown Stadium – Upper Level in Amarillo. The board of directors and membership meeting will begin at 4 p.m., following by a 6 p.m. social hour. The annual meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Bobbies volleyball practice begins Aug. 2

The Dimmitt Bobbies will kick their two-a-day practices on Aug. 2 at 8 a.m.to start getting the season underway. The first scrimmage at Wildorado will be on Aug. 6 and will include teams from Wildorado, Friona, Dimmitt and Ascension Academy for varsity.
