Eighth grade students at Dimmitt Middle School were invited to participate in a video contest that was presented by the Communities in Schools Site Coordinator. In the video the students had to discuss the challenges they were presented during the school year and how they worked to overcome those.

The Dimmitt Chamber of Commerce still has tickets for the upcoming annual banquet.
The banquet will be held on May 22 at the DHS Cafetorium. This year the banquet dinner will include steak, baked potatoes, rolls and dessert and well as entertainment. Cost of tickets is $25 each.
The Texas Senate passed SB 912 by Sen. Dawn Buckingham which protects life and property by modifying the state’s “riot statutes.”
This bill increases the criminal penalty for rioters who intentionally target and harm first responders during a riot.
Castro County farmers could benefit from decisions made by the USDA to increase acreage limits.
The U.S. government is raising the number of acres eligible to be enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and will pay farmers more to set aside that land.
Dimmitt High School senior Maria Esqueda is the recipient of a Dell Scholarship for $20,000.
As a Dell Scholar she will also receive a laptop, $500 Chegg textbook credits annually and personalized support from the Scholars Resource Network.
Bobcats v Dalhart
The Dimmitt Bobcats won a solid victory over the Dalhart Wolves, 9-2.
The Bobcats offense put the team on the scoreboard with one run, followed two in the second inning and three in the third, to put them in the lead 6-0.
