Use of temporary paper car tags ends

Purchasing a car in Texas got a little more complicated.House Bill 718, which was passed in 2023, went into effect on July 1 and car buyers in Texas will no longer get temporary paper tags when they purchase a vehicle.

State sales tax revenue totals $4B

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock reported that state sales tax revenue totaled $4.04 billion in June, 2.5 percent more than in June 2024.The majority of June sales tax revenue is based on sales made in May and remitted to the agency in June.

Castro County Extension Office will be offering a food handlers certification training course on Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon.The two-hour class covers food safety practices, cross contamination, time and temperature abuse and personal hygiene.

Pantoja was appointed by the Commissioners Court to serve the remainder Elaine Flynt term of office after she announced she would be retiring. She was recently honored by colleagues, friends and county officials at a retirement party.
