“A Lunch Experience” will be held in our meeting room here at Rhoads Memorial Library at noon on Thursday, May 29. The event, hosted by Catholic Charities of Lubbock, will feature a free lunch in what they are calling “an enjoyable activity designed to strengthen family bonds.

A new voter survey shows U.S. Sen. John Cornyn trailing Attorney General Ken Paxton in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate.The new poll shows Cornyn trailing Paxton by 16 percentage points, 56% to 40%, as reported by the poll taken by a Super PAC called the Senate Leadership Fund.

Texas measles case list rises to 717

The measles epidemic continues to spread with the current number of cases reported at 717 since the onset, though some counties have been removed from the list of outbreaks.Ninety-three of the patients have been hospitalized over the course of the outbreak.

Abbott wants SNAP to exclude junk food

Governor Greg Abbott sent a letter to Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins requesting a waiver from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service to prohibit unhealthy foods from being purchased using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
