Longtime state Rep. Smithee won’t seek another term

State Representative John Smithee (R-Amarillo) last week announced that he will not seek another term in the Texas House of Representatives. Smithee has served in the Texas Legislature since 1985, and was most recently chairman of the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence.
