I bet I am not the only noticing how expensive restaurants are now. Even fast-food places are getting so high, I am starting to avoid them. Inflation is taking its toll on everything from gas to groceries, clothing and pretty much everything.

A return to fashion

All my life, I’ve found it hard to resist a good bargain. So, the pandemic briefly curtailed my excellent purchasing decisions. I was always out in the stores, shopping for the latest in exercise equipment, self-help videos, or ideas to impress my supervisors. And I really liked clothes.

Odessa man sentenced for murder of brother

An Odessa man accepted a plea deal on Tuesday and will serve 12 years for the murder of his brother, Raymond Hernandez, on Sept. 20, 2020, in Lubbock. James Hernandez will also receive credit for time already served.

West Texas A&M University has recently deepened its partnership with our region’s community colleges and is committed to engaging rural areas with smaller populations.

Ideal jobs

My co-worker Tom said he’s thinking about trying a new career. He should make that move soon, because he’s 63 years old. I share his concern, for I too have often wondered if I should stay in a job, switch professions, or just go back to sleep at my desk.

Editor’s Message

Facebook debates are proving people just want others to agree with them or they fall back on “you hate us” excuses to manipulate the person they are engaging. Be it politics, religion, or any other subject, this has become the manta if you won’t agree with some subject, “You hate us.

Aging gracefully

I just got back from a family reunion. I enjoyed seeing distant cousins whose names I couldn’t remember. I just called them all “cuz.” They called me the same thing, and we had a great time discussing things we’d done together…even though we couldn’t quite remember where we’d done them.
