Castro County 4-H had eight youth attend the District 2 4-H Junior Leader Lab camp at Ceta Canyon this past week including the high school. The Junior Leader Lab was for youth who completed 3rd to 7th grades in the 2024-2025 school year.

Dimmitt High School has hired Coach Kyle Carroll as the new head boys basketball coach. Coming from Brownfield High School where he was the assistant basketball coach, he is in his 8th year of coaching. He graduated from Westwood High School and attended East Texas Baptist University.

Coach Jesus Rossy will be joining the DHS Bobcats football staff as the offensive coordinator in the upcoming season. He attended Tascosa High School and graduated from West Texas A&M University.

Nazareth tennis players competed at the State Tournament this past Thursday and Friday in San Antonio.Lexi Ramaekers, girls singles player, fell in the first round to D’Harris (6-1, 1-6, 6-2).

The 150th running of the Preakness Stakes saw Journalism finish first this past weekend.Journalism went the 1 3/16 miles in 1:55.37 to win, with his jockey, Umberto Rispoli, becoming the first jockey from Italy to win any of the Triple Crown races.
Nazareth Junior High Golfers competed in Dimmitt at the District Golf Tournament. Girls results: Brystol Burks placed 4th (64) and Rylee Scholz placed 6th (72). Boys results: Copper Farris, 1st (52) and Jack Wanjura, 3rd (56).
