The Nazareth Swiftettes lost to the TascosaRebals, 55-25 last Tuesday.Nazareth shot for sevenof- 19 2-pointers; two-of-10 3-pointers, sank five-of-nine free throws, had seven assists, five offensive rebounds, 15 defensive rebounds, 13 fouls, one block, 22 deflections, seven steals and 24 turnovers.

WT Meat Judging dominates Cargill competition

West Texas A&M University’s Meat Judging team recently took home another championship, powered by several perfect individual and team scores.The team won the championship of the Cargill High Plains Meat Judging Contest on Oct. 27 in Friona, with a score of 4,212.

Robotics season underway for local teams

Nazareth Robotics teams, along with Dimmitt and Hart teams, competed at the FiTW& P Amarillo League Meet this past weekend.The meet had 29 teams participating from Nazareth, Dimmitt, Hart, Bushland, Sunray, Canadian, Vernon, Amarillo, Pampa and White Deer.

TWC kicks off 13th annual Hiring Red, White & You!

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is hosting the 13th annual Hiring Red, White & You! event series from Nov. 1-22.This statewide event connects employers with veterans, transitioning military members, and military spouses.Workforce Solutions Panhandle will be holding its event on Nov. 7, 10 a.m.

The DHS Robotics teams attended a scrimmage at Marcus High School in Flower Mound on Oct. 19. DHS has the only teams from the West Texas region participating, with other teams from the Dallas and Houston areas.
The Dimmitt High School Spanish Club participated in the Día de los Muertos ofrenda event at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon. The students created an alter that honors loved ones and celebrates the Mexican tradition.

Swifts topple Kress Roos

The Nazareth Swifts came in with a win against the Kress Roos, 50-34.Nazareth had 13 downs, with 26 rushes for 206 yards, three passing completions of nine attempts for 70 yards, 38 tackles, two fumbles, and five penalties for 52 yards.
Nazareth Swiftettes Cross Country placed fourth at the Regional meet in, qualifying them to advance to state competition in Round Rock on Nov. 2. Team members include Mallory Wilhelm, Jolee Pigg, Bridget Osterkamp, Kelsie Gunter, Zeli Olivas and Allie Pittillo.

The WTAMU Horse Judging Team was named the 2024 All American Quarter Horse Congress Reserve Champion Collegiate Team. They placed second overall with a second in Performance, fourth in Halter, and second in reasons.

West Texas A&M University’s Horse Judging team scored another reserve championship at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Ohio.The WT team placed second overall, second in performance, second in reason and fourth in halter at the contest, held Oct. 16 in Columbus, Ohio.
