NAGA sues Washington Commanders over name change

The Native American Guardian Association (NAGA) has filed a lawsuit advocating for restoring the name Redskins to the National Football League (NFL)’s Washington. The group alleges that a rival Native American organization improperly prompted the change to the team now called the Commanders.

The Dimmitt Bobbies defeated the River Road Lady Cats 51-33 last Tuesday. Dimmitt jumped out into the lead in the first quarter 12-2 and continue to add points in the second quarter, closing the first half out ahead 24-11.

The Dimmitt Bobcats fell to the Levelland Lobos in their season opener this past Friday, 81-41. The Bobcats battled the first two quarters to close out the first half of the game leading by two points, 32-30, but struggled with shooting in the second half to give the Lobos the win.

Texas A&M officially fired head football coach Jimbo Fisher this past weekend, as was confirmed by Director of Athletics Ross Bjork in a statement saying there will be a “change in Aggie football leadership.

Former DHS XC runner Azariah Gonzalez, freshman at McPherson College in Kansas, is carrying on his tough tradition of competition, qualifying for the NAIA National Championships.

West Texas A&M University’s horse judging team won the reining national championship following competition this past weekend in Oklahoma. The team also took third in the American Quarter Horse Association World Championships.
