GEAR finals contest updates

Castro County 4-H and Dimmitt Middle School robotics had a strong day the Texas Tech GEAR (Get Excited About Robotics) finals contest on Saturday. The DMS team of Josh Seaton Roman Holguin, and Ivan Godinez placed first in their division.

RES GT to hold summer camp

A GT summer camp is scheduled at Richardson Elementary for GT students. The camp will offer engineering challenges, project creations and science experiments. Student can participate in one of two groups. Incoming 4th through 5th grade will attend on June 6-7, 9 a.m. to noon.

Naz Youth Baseball League signups underway

Nazareth’s youth baseball season will begin on May 31. All incoming pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade students are welcome to play.

Swifts advance to Regional semifinals

The Nazareth Swifts baseball team captured the Regional Quarterfinals Championship against Borden County with back-to-back shutouts, 10-0 and 13-0, advancing them to the Regional Semifinals. The Swifts head into the semifinals round with a 16-0 record for the season.

County tracksters medal at state

Castro County athletes from Nazareth and Hart High Schools competed at the Texas UIL State Track and Field 1-A Meet this past weekend and brought home three medals. Nazareth’s Caroline Myrick, NHS junior, competed in three events and claimed a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.

Naz Swifts move on to Regional Quarterfinals

The Nazareth Swifts rolled past Follett 20-0 in their Bi-District Championship game and, thus far, remain undefeated this season and ranked #2 in the state for 1-A teams.

For the first time in league history, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) will hold its prestigious World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas, with the 2022 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast set to buck into the state-of-the-art Dickies Arena from May 13-22.

Ramsey to receive scholarship

Nazareth senior Tagan Ramsey will be receiving a $10,000 Texas 4-H Foundation McLean Estate Scholarship. The Texas 4-H Foundation promotes and supports youth development in leadership, vocational skills, critical thinking, social skills and citizenship, as well as raising money for 4-H.

Nazareth Summer Basketball Fundraiser

The Swift and Swiftette basketball players have started selling raffle tickets to raise money for their summer team camps. Enter for a chance to win a Family 4-Pack to an Amarillo Sod Poodles game plus $200 to X-Steakhouse. There will also be three tickets drawn for $100 each to X-Steakhouse.
