WTAMU student arrested for terrorist threat

A West Texas A&M student was arrested and charged with terrorist threats following a report by another student. According to court documents, Kreamy Abdul White, 23, told another student he wanted to be a serial killer and threatened to go around shooting people.

The Lone Star State ranks #2 overall in the nation as 2022’s Best States for UFO Fans. Shadowed only by California (score of 69.77), which is #1 overall, Texas still ranked high in most areas that were researched, with an overall score of 43.61. Florida came in #3 for the Best State For UFO Fans.
Following another successful year for the Pink Ladies Chili Cookoff, the group presented a check for $17,600 to the Dimmitt Fire Volunteer Fire Department. The annual event brings in the largest local donation to the DFVW, with the Pink Ladies staunchly supporting the funding of the firefighters each year.

It was the biggest year yet for the Pink Ladies and Dimmitt Fire Department at the Chili Cookoff and Golf Tournament, raising $17,600 to benefit the DFVD. The Pink Ladies presented a check to the DFVD last Thursday evening.

Saving Our Aquifer Field Day set for Oct. 13

Mike Carter, director of the Playa Lakes Joint Venture, Lafayette, Colorado, will highlight a panel of speakers at a Stewarding Our Aquifer Field Day presented by Ogallala Commons. The event will be held Oct. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Floyd County Friends Unity Center near Floydada.
Allen Acker of Nazareth harvested an elk on Tuesday morning. It was located approximately 2 miles east of Dimmitt. Though free ranging elk exist over a large portion of West Texas, a license is required to hunt. Free-range elk are considered exotic and there is no season and minimal red tape when comes to hunting.

Sales tax revenue up 17.2%

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that state sales tax revenue totaled $3.69 billion in September, 17.2 percent more than in September 2021. The majority of September sales tax revenue is based on sales made in August and remitted to the agency in September.
