Nazareth’s three robotics teams competed at the Randall Robotics Meet this past Saturday, along with Dimmitt and Hart among the 33 registered teams in the league Nazareth teams are ranked second, sixth and 19th.

Panhandle Posse wins District Talent Show

The Panhandle Posse won the District Talent title at the recent Plainview District FFA Banquet. Nazareth’s team of seniors Chloe Birkenfeld, Max Snead, and Tanner Wethington, junior Brooklyn Birkenfeld, and sophomore Taylor Wethington competed and concluded the contest with a performance of “All I See Is You” by Shane Smith and the Saints and a swing version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” While the results were being scored, area officer Alli Long and state officer Summer Bowman encouraged all to attend upcoming events, such as the Area I FFA Convention, which will take place in May.

NORAD gears up to track Santa

The Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) began tracking Santa Claus in 1955 and did so until CONAD was replaced with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) in 1958. NORAD’s mission, 24hours a day, 365 days a year, is to track airplanes, missiles, space launches and anything else that flies in or around the North American continent – including Santa’s sleigh and Rudolph with “his infrarednose- so-bright” signature.

Abbott signs bills deterring illegal immigration

Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday signed into law three bills that pour more money into his three-year effort to deter illegal immigration at the Texas-Mexico border and give Texas law enforcement authority to arrest undocumented immigrants anywhere in the state.
