Sheriff presents report to commissioners

Castro County Sheriff Sal Rivera presented the May report at Commissioners Court this past Monday.The Castro County Sheriff ’s Office (CCSO) had 102 calls, 13 deputy assists, 23 citations, 49 warnings, 12 arrests, two warrants, 28 reports and nine transports. Drug seizures included 34.

Trump signs travel ban proclamation

President Donald Trump signed a travel proclamation that will bar or partially restrict entry from nearly 20 countries, citing national security concerns.The travel restrictions will take effect on June 9.Travelers from the fully banned countries who attempt to enter the U.S.

Pantoja appointed county treasurer

Castro County commissioners approved Michael Pantoja to fill the position of County Treasurer following the recent resignation of Elaine Flynt. Pantoja will be sworn in on July 1.

The Castro County Hispanic Heritage Association held its Free Fishing Day this past weekend at Sheffy Lake, with fun, free food and activities. Fishing winners included: Adult, Mr.
Castro County Harrison Meador received his $20,000 San Antonio Livestock Scholarship from the Texas 4-H Foundation at Texas 4-H Roundup . He will be attending WTAMU in the fall. The Texas 4-H Foundation was able to award over $2.7 MILLION in scholarships to over 220 4-H members in 2025.
