Junior Hochstein was born on June 3, 1924, in the home on the family farm outside of Nazareth, Texas to William C. Hochstein, Sr. and Kathryn (Lauer) Hochstein. He graduated from Nazareth High School in 1941 and was enrolled and was headed to play baseball at Texas Tech University when he got his draft notice. He was inducted into the United States Army and served in the Philippines during WWII. He was also put into service as the bugler for his company. Upon returning from the war, after a 2-year stint, he resumed his responsibilities on the farm. He met the love of his life, Catherine Schacher, at a dance in Nazareth. They both loved to dance and were known to dance every set. They married on July 19, 1949, in Nazareth.

Junior farmed his entire life instilling in his family the virtues of hard work, family loyalty, and Christian values. He was a member of the American Legion, Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and Senior Citizens. He also served on the Nazareth School Board and the Hart Producers Co-op Gin Board of Directors. He enjoyed fishing, pitching horseshoes, bowling, playing tennis, golf, baseball, card games, dominos and about any other thing that involved competition. He was proud of his family and enjoyed supporting his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all their activities. He loved family gatherings at his house when his big yard was filled with the sound of laughter and fun.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Catherine and their 12 childrenn, daughters Debbie (Jerry) Mazura of Amarillo, Patti (Dennis) Kern, Carol Kern, Mary Jeanne, Dianne (Virgil) Huseman, all of Nazareth, and Bobbi (Danny) McGregor of Amarillo; sons, Larry (Paige) of Canyon, Jimmy (Carla), Johnny (Susan), Mickey (Meredith), all of Nazareth, Randy (Marita) of Canyon, Bill (Jaclyn) of Clarendon, and son-in-law, Ralph Brockman of Nazareth. He is also dearly missed by Maggie, his Boston Terrier.

He is preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Sharon Brockman; his parents; his brothers, Anthony and Eugene (Sonny) Hochstein; and his sisters, Geraldine Eckert and Rita Edwards.
