The rights of the citizen in obtaining public records is spelled out in Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code, stating that “government is the servant and not the master of the people.” “The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know,” the law states. The Public Information Act of Texas (TPIA) is a series of laws designed to guarantee that the public has access to public records of government bodies at ALL levels in Texas.

Landers to retire from DSEC

The U.S. Postal Service today announced it would hike Periodicals postage rates an average of 8.5% for Periodicals on July 10, 2022, disappointing publishers who expected passage of the Postal Service Reform Act to moderate the price increases.
