The Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association state championship meets for 3A Division 2, 1A/2A and Unequipped were held at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinberg, Texas on March 13.

DHS Girls Golf team won first place at the Vega Tournament 1st place team. Bray Chavira was first place individual, and Alexis Quiroz was second place individual.
Dimmitt Bobcats Powerlifting competed at the THSPA Region 1 Division 3 Powerlifting Meet on March 8 in Brownfield. Three team members qualified to compete at state (right) including Dallas Starkey (2nd/wt. class 114), Arnoldo Ogaz (2nd/wt. class 165), and Ga’Quorie Chatham (2nd/wt. class 242). Other team members competing were Abrahm Chavez, Shaun Mick, Marco Silva and Angel Fuentes. The state meet will be held in Abilene on March 22.

Xcel Energy is preparing for severe weather and wildfire risk with predictions of high wind speeds and low relativity in the forecast for the service area.
HHS Women’s Powerlifting Team (THSWPA Regionals – Equipped) – Regionals qualifiers competed at Eldorado this past weekend with three lifters earning medals. Brianna Nalley placed 5th in weight class 165; Adamari Morales placed 1st in weight class 123 (State Qualifier) and earned the Best Deadlift Light Platform award; and Mia Lopez placed 4th in weight class 220.

Swiftettes score 26th state title

The Nazareth Swiftettes tallied up the 26th state championship for team, beating the Saltillo Lady Lions 53-31 at the Alamodome in San Antonio this past Thursday.The Swiftettes now have a national and UIL record for state trips and championships.

The Nazareth Swiftettes continue to advance in the playoffs, beating the Sands Lady Mustangs in the Regional semifinals this past Monday, 56-21.The Swiftettes gained a 13point lead in the first quarter and closed the first half, ahead by 26 points, with a score of 38-12.
