Swiftettes runners up at Naz Tourney

The Nazareth Swiftettes advanced to the championship round on Saturday at the Nazareth Basketball Tourney this past weekend to play the Canadian Lady Wildcats after beating Bushland, Henrietta and Panhandle in earlier games. Though they lost in the final round, they had some solid, well-played games and great competition.

Bobcats take consolation at Vega Tourney

The Dimmitt Bobcats competed at the Vega Basketball Tournament this past weekend and came home with consolation. The Bobcats were defeated by Amarillo River Road in the first round but came through with strong wins against Bovina and Panhandle.

Swiftettes into basketball season

The Nazareth Swiftettes are into basketball season with a heavy schedule of competition. In addition to the regular games, they will be participating in the Whataburger Tournament in Fort Worth later in December.

Swifts fall to Eagles, 68-27

The Nazareth Swifts fell to the Canyon Eagles (4A), 68- 27, in their second game of the season. The Swifts came in with 10 points in the first quarter, trailing the Eagles by two points.

Swiftettes fall to Lady Greyhounds

The Nazareth Swiftettes suffered a loss to the Gruver Lady Greyhounds on Tuesday, 63- 47. The Swiftettes hit 16 of 45 field goals (36%) and nine of 26 3-pointers (35%), six of 10 free throws, collected 27 rebounds, 13 assists and five steals.

Bobcats edge out Whitefaces, 49-48

The Dimmitt Bobcats won a nail-biter against the Hereford Whitefaces on Friday, 49-48. The first quarter, the Whitefaces pulled out ahead, 16-6, but the Bobcats bounced back in the second quarter, with the offense hitting for 23 points and the defense holding Hereford to eight points, to take the lead as the first half ended, 29-24.

Swifts fall to Mustangs, 72-42

The Nazareth Swifts were defeated by the Olton Mustangs on Friday, 72-42. Shifting quickly from football season and playing in the bi-district game, the Swifts athletes got a late start into basketball season.

WTAMU rodeo athletes ranked in regional standings

A pair of West Texas A&M University rodeo athletes are ranked highly in regional standings at the close of the team’s fall season. Sierra Sharp, a junior general studies major from Happy, is ranked second in breakaway in Southwest Region standings.

Bobcats defeat Eagles, 77-48

The Dimmitt Bobcats won a solid victory against the Lubbock Roosevelt Eagles on Tuesday, 77-48. Dimmitt took a solid lead in the first quarter by 16 points and continue to widen their lead through the second quarter, closing the first half out 44- 23 Ṫhe third quarter saw the same offensive effort by the Bobcats, gaining another 23 points and defensively keeping the Eagle to a 13-point gain, pushing the gap wider, 67-36.

Swifts fall to Patriots, 77-32

The Nazareth Swiftettes took on the 3A Canadian Lady Cats on Saturday, narrowly losing 53-50. The Swiftettes took the lead in the first quarter, 14-6, but trailed going into halftime 28-23.
