Texas A&M investigating ‘large scale’ cheating

An already unusual fall semester was wrapping up when Texas A&M University officials sent out an email in early December to the hundreds of students in an online finance class that set off a panic. Faculty reported concerns of cheating “on a very large scale” to the Aggie Honor System Office, after they noticed some students in the class answered online test questions too quickly.

Swiftettes take down Lady Rebels, 55-44

The Nazareth Swiftettes defeated the Amarillo Tascosa Lady Rebels (5A), 55-44. The Swiftettes took an early 10-point lead over the Lady Rebels in the first quarter, putting them at 19-9.

Swifts lose to Mustangs, 63-44

The Nazareth Swiftettes fell to the Shallowater Mustangs (3A) on Saturday, 63-44 The Mustangs gained a solid lead over the Swifts in the first quarter, 20-11 and extended the gap in the second quarter, closing the first half out, 34-16. The Swifts battled in the third quarter, outscoring the Mustangs, but no enough to overtake the Shallowater lead, 44-28.

Swifts defeated by Hawks

The Nazareth Swifts fall to the Wall Hawks (3A) on Friday, 53-33. Both teams shot for seven points in the first quarter, and battled in the second quarter, with the Hawks up by 23-17 at halftime.

Bobcats fall to Steers, 36-26

The Dimmitt Bobcats fell to the Farwell Steers, 36-26. Farwell took a 14-8 lead over the Bobcats in the first quarter, with both teams scoring evenly in the second quarter, keeping the Steers on top going into halftime, 21- 15.

Swiftettes defeat Lady Lynx, 37-35

The Nazareth Swiftettes battled their way to a victory against the Spearman Lady Lynx, 37-35. Nazareth took a three-point lead in the first quarter, 7-4, and continue to make gains in the second quarter, closing the first half out, 20-13.

Amarillo College to bring back sports

The Amarillo College Board of Regents voted to bring back college sports to the school beginning in 2022-2023. Amarillo College, which has not participated in collegiate sports since the mid-1980s, will bring back baseball, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s cross country.

Swifts edge out Falcons, 51-47

The Nazareth Swifts took on the Bushland Falcons, winning 51-47. The Falcons claimed the first quarter, outshooting the Swifts 16-11, but the Swifts bounced back in the second quarter, taking the lead by a single point, 23-22, as the first half came to a close.

Swifts defeat Bobcats, 39-36

The Nazareth Swifts defeated the Dimmitt Bobcats in an in-county game, 39-36. The Bobcats took the lead in the first quarter by eight point, 13-5, but the Swifts offensive came back in the second quarter, to narrow the Dimmitt lead to 15-14 at the close of the first half.

The Nazareth Swifts claimed a win over the Stratford Elks, 51-29. Nazareth took charge of the first quarter outshooting the Elks by 13 points to take the lead, 18-5.
