TBC announces 2024 directors

The Texas Beef Council (TBC) has announced its Board of Directors for fiscal year 2024, which officially began Oct. 1. The 20 directors are nominated by producer organizations or industry segments from across the state.

The Texas Tech University Goin’ Band performed across New York City in advance of its performance in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The excitement began last year when Macy’s announced the Goin’ Band would perform in the 2023 parade.

Life expectancy in the United States rose slightly last year but remains below what it was pre-COVID 19 pandemic levels. According to the CDC, the rise is back to 77 years and six months, a figure from two decades ago.The calculations released last Wednesday are awaiting finalization.

North Gin ginned the first cotton bale of the 2023 season in Castro County which was grown by Kevin Acker. The cotton variety was DeltaPine 1822 and produced a grade value of .5778 cents in the loan.

The Lone Star State’s seasonally adjusted civilian labor force reached a new record high of 15,162,100 after growing by 20,900 people over the month in October. This marked the 10th consecutive monthly increase and included the addition of 21,100 Texans employed over the month.
The Dimmitt Chamber of Commerce held its ribbon cutting for Simply Grace Aesthetics and Wellness on Nov. 15. Owner Karis Farris was joined by friends and family at the event. Farris, who is a registered nurse with experience in rural healthcare, emergency medicine and school health, is taking her experience into skincare and vitalized health at her business which opened in August. The business is located at 208 West Bedford St. in Dimmitt.

The Dimmitt Bobbies defeated the River Road Lady Cats 51-33 last Tuesday. Dimmitt jumped out into the lead in the first quarter 12-2 and continue to add points in the second quarter, closing the first half out ahead 24-11.
