Parade of Lights set for Nov. 30

The Chamber of Commerce 7ht Annual Parade of Lights is set to kick off on Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. Parade floats will begin lining up at 6 p.m. heading north on SE 3rd Street and will travel west on Bedford in front of the Castro County Courthouse and turn south by Rhoads Memorial Library.

The Dimmitt High School Auto Tech ACC Performance Team competed at the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge, an American national competition, recently, placing 11th out of 17 teams with an average time of 35.25.

The November 2023 election has come and gone, with all local Castro County, Dimmitt and state constitutional propositions passing. The Dimmitt ISD Voter Approved Tax Rate Election garnered a big 83.67% of voters in the district. The proposition ratifies the ad valorem tax rate of $1.

State sales tax revenue down

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that state sales tax revenue totaled $3.81 billion in October, down 0.3 percent from October 2022. The majority of October sales tax revenue is based on sales made in September and remitted to the agency in October.
