Rivera to head SAT Membership Committee

Sheriffs’ Association of Texas President Sheriff Larry Smith a has appointed Castro County Sheriff Sal Rivera to be the Chairman of the Membership Committee for the association. The appointment began Oct. 12, and will runs through the current SAT president’s term which is 2023-2024.

Sheriff Sal Rivera has been selected to serve as the Chairman of the Board for the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission for the 0232024 term. He started his new position on Oct. 1. and will preside over the first board meeting on Oct. 26. Rivera began serving on the board on Oct.

Castro County voters will be headed to the polls and among other important issues, will be casting votes on the Dimmitt ISD Voter-Approval Tax Rate. (VATRE). State law requires that school districts seek voter approval to raise their tax rate above the prescribed amount.
