It seems we’re always on the go and most often in a rush. No matter how busy the schedule; we have meals to eat and dishes to wash. I have a dish washer but use it only for storage. The majority of women likely prefer the convenience of an electric dish washer.

WTAMU, AC partner with ISDs to boost teacher numbers

An innovative plan to increase the number of teachers in Texas Panhandle school districts was announced Sept. 12 by West Texas A&M University and Amarillo College officials. One2Teach will significantly reduce the time and costs for high school students who want to become teachers.

ICCC Fall Festival Fundraiser set for Sept. 18

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will be holding its Fall Festival Fundraiser. The event will be on Sept. 18 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Dimmitt City Park. Entertainment will feature DJ El Mexicano and the Eskalantes, Al Son del Folklore and Ballet Folklore San Jose de Hereford.

Avian flu outbreak threatens poultry supply

The risk an avian influenza outbreak lurks for poultry farmers as fall approaches across the U.S., according to experts. With the fall wild migratory bird season beginning, the disease has surfaced in the Midwest, being detected in two commercial turkey flocks in Minnesota and one in Indiana.

Hispanic Heritage Fiesta set for Oct. 1

The Castro County Hispanic Heritage Fiesta will take place on Oct. 1 with lots of fun things planned. The event will be held at the Castro County Courthouse on the east side street from 11 a.m. to midnight. There will be bands and a D.J., Folklorico Dancers, a Mariachi Band, games, and great food.

The Castro County Sheriff’s Office answered a 911 call on Monday afternoon reporting a major crash and one person trapped in a vehicle at the intersection of FM 1055 and Texas Hwy 86.
Naz Ag students attended the Amarillo Sod Poodles game where they saw them beat the Arkansas Travelers this past weekend. Weathering some chilly weather, the group had fun and enjoyed the fireworks as well. The game was the final time this season that Sod Poodle fans could see their team at Hodgetown Stadium. The Soddies will be on the road the remainder of the year.

The Castro County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 12, executed a State of Texas search warrant and found drugs resulting in the arrest of Vincent John Padilla. The search occurred at the 900 block of Ave B in Hart, Texas.
