Television in the 1950's and 1960's was far different from the formats we watch today. The weekday shows most of my friends remember were situation comedies. During the weekends - especially on Saturday mornings - the entertainment was mostly action/adventure fare.

Amazing Grace

Mom Was a Whiz

My Mom was a whiz at word games; family and friends knew that she was usually a winner at bridal and baby showers. I remember that she was an avid viewer of the Wheel of Fortune program and worked TV Guide and newspaper crossword puzzles.

After seven days of state judging contests all over the state (Lubbock, Stephenville, Huntsville and College station), Nazareth FFA ended a solid judging season with seven teams competing against 1A-6A schools. Twenty-two of the 41 ag students at Nazareth competed.

SOA Field Day set for May 17

Olton will be the site of the latest Stewarding Our Aquifer (SOA) Field Day presented by Ogallala Commons. The event will be held on May 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Olton Community Center. Doors will open at 9 a.m. with registration and snacks.

AgTexas had its Annual AgTexas AgYouth Scholarships awards program and banquet in Amarillo on Monday. Thirty-six youth from the Panhandle area were honored and 10 seniors received scholarships presented by AgTexas Farm Credit CEO Tim McDonald. Nazareth FFA Dayson Schacher (bottom left) and Dimmitt FFA Hannah Simpson (bottom right) were two of the lucky recipients of scholarships.

AgTexas honored 36 outstanding graduating high school seniors who excelled in their 4-H and FFA chapters, at the Seventh Annual AgTexas AgYouth Scholarship awards program and banquet held at the downtown Amarillo Embassy this past Monday evening.
