Ogallala Quilt Festival another big success

The 24th Ogallala Quilt Festival held April 1-2 has come and gone, with new winners of the show and many memories to stored away with quilters and admirers of the art attending classes, gathering with friends from surrounding states and having a generally good time.

SAT begins associate membership drive

The Sheriffs Association of Texas (SAT) is announcing their Spring 2022 Associate and/or Business Associate membership drive. Citizens of Castro County should be receiving a letter from the Sheriffs Association around April 1, according to Sheriff Sal Rivera.

Wildfire danger persists in Texas Panhandle

Areas of the Texas Panhandle are being elevated to critical or extreme for potential wildfire dangers. Multiple agencies answered a call to a grassfire in Gray County about 5 miles east of Lefors on Tuesday. Just after 9:30 p.m.

Ogallala Festival Best of Show featured the Lotus Blossom Special made by Sally Noland and quilted by Angela McCorkle. The show drew several hundred quilters to attend classes and admire the ‘quilt artistry and craftmanship’ required to produce the many quilts entered in the festival.
