USDA updates CFAP2 for producers

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is updating the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 (CFAP 2) for contract producers of eligible livestock and poultry and producers of specialty crops and other sales-based commodities.

Texas constitutional carry in effect Sept. 1

As of Sept. 1, a new state law will soon let most Texans carry handguns in public without going through training or having to get permits. Gov. Greg Abbott lauded the so-called “constitutional carry” legislation and other firearms bills when he signed them into law.

Checking the Levels

Crews were out this past week checking groundwater levels in the numerous monitor wells located in the Dimmitt area, including several on East and West Bedford. With water conservation important to the West Texas regions, a close eye is kept on the drop/usage of groundwater.

State lawmakers file bill to ban radioactive waste storage

Texas lawmakers are again trying to ban the most dangerous type of radioactive waste from entering the Lone Star State — at the same time as a nuclear waste disposal company in West Texas pursues a federal application to store the highly radioactive materials.
