District-wide TxDOT project underway

Work on a $1.92 million Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) project to restripe various roadways in the Lubbock District is under way. The Lubbock District includes Castro County.

DISD trustees elect school board officers

The Dimmitt ISD Board of Trustees met on May 10 and approved the results of the regular election for Places 1 and 5. All places were uncontested. The oath of offices was administered by Darla Fisher to Richard Martinez – Place 1, and Justin Edwards - Place 5.

Dimmitt City Manager Daniel Jackson announced that the next playground project will be getting underway. Jackson said that Playgrounds Etc. from Midland, Texas will begin construction on a playground located directly by the Skate Park on Western Circle.

The Dimmitt Bobcats are moving deeper into the playoffs after beating Childress two-out-of-three games and claiming the Bi-District championship round. The Bobcats will face the Tornillo Coyotes (11-6, 4-0) this Saturday in the Area Championship round.
