March unemployment figures sluggish

In March, the seasonally adjusted Texas unemployment rate was 6.9 percent, unchanged from February 2021. Texas gained 99,000 total nonagricultural jobs over the month, marking gains in 10 of the last 11 months. Private sector employment increased 106,600 for the month.

Gayland Ward Seed makes transitions

On Thursday, April 15, Gayland Ward Seed announced a transition in management. As part of a transition to the next generation, Carson Ward will take the helm of Gayland Ward Seed. The company also announced a new headquarters in Amarillo, Texas, and the launch of a new logo as GW Seed.

The DHS Bobbies Golf team competed at the District meet in Lubbock, finishing fourth place. Members of the team: Fabiola Perez, Alyssa Monreal, Amy Oviedo, Victoria Hernandez and Shaylagh Henriquez. The DHS Bobcats Golf Team attended the District meet in Lubbock, finishing third place.

The Dimmitt Bobcats walked away with a win over the River Road Wildcats, 5-4. Neither team scored in the first two innings, but River Road came with a run in the third and fourth to take the lead, 2-0.

Bobbies lost to Brownfield Lady Cubs last Tuesday, 21- 2. “This was a tough loss for us. We made a lot of throwing and catching errors that allowed Brownfield to run up the score,” said Coach Vicky Ruiz. “We did have some amazing catches made in the outfield by JC Sepeda and Ariana Perez.
