Immaculate Conception Church in Dimmitt held a meal of gratitude in memory of Feat of St. Joseph for all the essential workers in the community on March 25. Essential workers enjoyed a meal of pork roast (representing food for the body) and pastas (representing food for the soul).

The Medical Center of Dimmitt will be losing a valued member of the staff the end of April as Dr. Cobra Chamblee, D.O. makes a move to Florida. Dr. Chamblee has been practicing medicine in Dimmitt for the past five years at the clinic. Her last day in the clinic will be April 30. Dr.

Abbott EO states no to vaccine passports

Governor Greg Abbott Tuesday issued an Executive Order prohibiting state agencies or political subdivisions in Texas from creating a "vaccine passport" requirement, or otherwise conditioning receipt of services on an individual’s COVID-19 vaccination status.

FEMA offers assistance with funerals

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) may be easing some of the financial burden for funeral expenses for COVID-19 deaths. Beginning in April, the agency says it will begin paying up to $9,000 in expenses per funeral. Those who lost multiple family members can apply for $35,000.
