Hereford’s Celeste Álvarez Selected for Fulbright to Guatemala

Washington and Lee University senior Celeste Álvarez ’26 has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to teach English in Guatemala. At W&L, Álvarez is a sociology and anthropology major with minors in art history and Latin American and Caribbean Studies.

Irene “Grammie” Mullins, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Hereford at the age of eightyeight.Irene was born on May 26, 1937, in Rotan, Texas, to Edgar and Lou Ada (Jarvis) Moize. She moved to Hereford in 1970.

On Sunday, June 28, all of Hereford is invited to a combined church service in Dameron Park for the 250th celebration of religious freedom.America was founded on the freedom to worship God in our own way.There will be a time capsule placed in the courthouse lawn to be opened on June 28, 2076.
