Thomas loses battle to compete in women’s sports

Sports’ governing bodies have permanently banned transgender swimmer William aka Lia Thomas from participating in women’s sports, after Thomas challenged an international swimming rule that prevents biological males from competing in female events.

USDA sets deadline for ERP applications

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the deadline for commodity and specialty crop producers to apply for the Emergency Relief Program (ERP) for 2022 natural disaster losses is Aug. 14. USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) began accepting ERP 2022 applications in October 2023.

The Dimmitt Athletic Booster Club announced the winners of the first DABC basketball tournament. Tagged as “the Olton boys”, the team took the whole tournament with no games lost. Proceeds and donations earned from the tournament were given directly to families of the recent car crashes.

College football looms on the horizon

The summer is slipping by quickly as college football teams across the nation eye the upcoming season.According to Fox Sports college football analyst R. J. Young, twelve teams will make the playoffs this season.
Dimmitt Bobcats Isiah Sifuentez traveled to Boulder, Colorado on June 19 to compete in the Deion Sanders “Prime Time 7v7 Classic.” He played against some of the best 18-and-underathletes in the nation from California, Florida, and many other states.

Sports Physicals set for July 29 at NISD

The Medical Clinic of Dimmitt will be the Nazareth ISD gym on July 29 at 9 a.m. for physicals.All seventh, nineth and 11t grade students who are participating in sports or cheerleading must have a physical.

Swiftette small group camp set for July

Nazareth ISD will be holding a Swiftette Small Group Camp on July 8-11.The camp is for girls entering the second grade through seventh grade.The objective of this camp is to teach the basic offensive and defensive fundamentals in a small group.
