First responders answered a call on Monday on Highway 385 in Sunnyside near Oppliger Feedyard after a tractor trailer rolled over on its side while passing a pickup that apparently failed to use a turn signal. The accident blocked traffic until the wreckage was cleared and diverted through the roadside park on the west side. Responders answering the call were the Castro County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, TxDOT and Dimmitt Fire Department. No serious injuries were reported.

The Dimmitt Police Department, which has been housed at the Dimmitt City Hall, made a move to its new building last week on 115 W. Jones.

The High Plains Underground Water Conservation District (HPWD) board of directors at their June 14 meeting approved $68,860 in funding for water-related research, demonstration, and education projects.

Castro County 4-H Club had several members place high with their records book for 2022. The District 2 record book judging was held in Lubbock on July 13.
