Dairy MAX scholarship applications now open

Dairy MAX is committed to strengthening agriculture and sustaining a viable future for dairy farming and will be continuing its scholarship program which supports local dairy farm families. Three $2,500 academic scholarships will be awarded this spring.

That man who believes he is beyond redemption will harbor that dark conviction until a fundamental change takes place in his thinking. There is hope, however.

DHS Band percussionist Paden Mick

DHS Band percussionist Paden Mick participated in the UIL Region 1 Solo & Ensemble contest on Saturday, Feb. 5, at WTAMU. Paden earned a 1st Division Superior rating on his performance, certifying him to compete in the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest in May. Paden has qualified for the State Contest all four years of his high school career.

Naz FFA seniors

Naz FFA seniors Landry Kleman and Jaycee Pigg competed in the Junior Pitmaster Challenge at the San Antonio Stock Show. Teams were judged on the BBQ cooking skills for a chance to win a scholarship. The pair competed in the chicken, pork spareribs and brisket categories and borrowed a Daco Fire Equipment smoker to cook on. Mac Annen supervised the team.

Abbott announces new biorefinery

Governor Greg Abbott today announced that USA BioEnergy, through its subsidiary Texas Renewable Funds (TRF), will build a new $1.7 billion advanced biorefinery in Bon Wier, Texas. The biorefinery will convert one million green tons of wood waste into 34 million gallons annually of premium clean burning transportation fuel including Sustainable Aviation Fuel, Renewable Diesel, and Renewable Naphtha.

The Nazareth FFA

The Nazareth FFA Dairy Judging team competed against 100 teams at the San Antonio Livestock Show. Nazareth came in with a 7th place overall. The judging team members are Tanner Wethington, Iris Schilderink, Dayson Schacher and Jett Ra maekers.
